Do you know? – Viraat ship was heaviest ship in Indian army

INS Viraat,  commissioned on May 12, 1987 at Devonport, England, is the second and the largest aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy. Viraat (R - 22), firnerly HMS Hermes, launched in 1953 was the flagship of th South Atlantic Task Force during the Falklands war in 1982 and as ships go, had such a reputation for spreading joy thath she was nicknamed Happy Hermes. It has a speed of 28 knots and can over 1,000 km in a day and can house 30 aircraft including Sea Harriers, Sea Kings and Chetak helicopters and 1,350 sailors. The Indian Navy is the only one in Asia and one of seven in the world to have aircraft - carriers.
